We’re proud of the work we accomplished this year, and we want to share some highlights from the fall quarter below:
- Seth got his first AERA poster accepted! He’ll be presenting some work from our Careergram project around AI-supported occupational identity development.
- Julie got her workshop to AERA accepted! She’ll be presenting about co-design with local community partners, building on work from the City STEM learning project.
- Maria, Julie, John, Fabio, June, and our friends at the STEM Learning Lab published a paper in the International Journal of Child-Computer Interaction, Towards culturally sustaining design: Centering community’s voices for learning through Participatory Design.
- June was featured on a KABC evening news segment about Artificial Intelligence in Schools.
- Our work around AI in education was featured in the latest issue of Advancing, the quarterly magazine for the UCI School of Education.
- Audrey presented her work on game-based learning analytics at the Southern California Conference for Undergraduate Research 2023.
- Sharon received an offer for a Software Engineering internship at Netflix for Summer 2024!
We also love celebrating our daplab alumni who graduated last year and started new adventures this fall:
- Isabel is an Associate Developer at Arkane Digital in Seattle, Washington.
- Isabella started her Ph.D. in Education at UC Irvine! You can read more about her journey here.
- Jessica is a Graduate Student at Harvard University Graduate School of Education pursuing a Master of Education (MEd) in Learning, Design, Innovation and Technology.
- Karla is a Design Associate at Lil ‘O’ Blossom, Inc.
- Mehraeel is a Graduate Student at UC Irvine pursuing a Master’s degree in Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics.
- Sam is a Graduate Student at the University of Michigan – School of Information pursuing a Master of Science (MS) in Information Science/Studies.
Finally, please join us in welcoming our new PhD student Kathy and new undergraduate RAs: Aasha, Aashi, Celia, Darian, Jacqueline, and Jamie! We can’t wait to see what next year has in store for us.
